Bolton eye move for Celtic striker Anthony Stokes

Trotters boss Neil Lennon - who signed Stokes for Celtic from Hibernian in 2010 - is keen to add firepower to his squad ahead of next season, with Bolton currently lying in 17th place in the Championship.

Stokes scored 68 goals in four seasons during Lennon’s tenure in Glasgow, and it’s believed the Northern Irishman could try to bring the Irishman to England in a bid to supplement Bolton’s strikeforce.

Veteran duo Eidur Gudjohnsen and Emile Heskey have netted just seven goals between them - with the Icelandic forward scoring six of them - while Jermaine Beckford has hit the net just twice in the League Cup.

On-loan Cardiff forward Adam Le Fondre has bagged six in the league while Welsh international Craig Davies tops the Bolton scoring charts with seven goals in all competitions but is currently out injured.

Twenty-year-old striker Zach Clough has scored five goals in eight matches for Bolton but sustained an season-ending injury in a 1-1 draw with Reading in March.

Stokes has attracted interest from England before, with both Leeds and Cardiff credited with an interest in the past.

He signed a new three-year deal with Celtic in October 2013 and Ronny Deila has insisted the former Falkirk and Hibs striker is not for sale.
