BBC Radio Scotland pundits discuss 'unbelievable' criticism of Greg Taylor

Left-back’s role in the team has been questioned by fans on social media

Celtic made it through to the group stages of the Europa League thanks to a 1-0 win over Sarajevo.

Neil Lennon’s side were not at their best as they waited until the 70th minute for Odsonne Edouard to tap home a rebound after goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic had meekly palmed Ryan Christie’s shot into the Frenchman’s path.

While the result was undoubtedly the most important thing, a section of the support weren’t happy that the contest was so close with some criticising the performance of Greg Taylor at the left wing-back role.

This was discussed on BBC Radio Scotland’s live coverage of the match on Sportsound.

Host Richard Gordon said: "I just saw Greg Taylor trending in the United Kingdom.

"He's started 11 of the 12 Celtic matches this season so Neil Lennon clearly has a lot of belief in him.

"I wasn't aware of this, but a lot of the Celtic fans on social media appear not to have such a high opinion of him.

"I can't believe some of the comments I'm seeing here. I actually wonder what these people are watching.

"It's unbelievable. Although, I have to say there are Celtic fans there saying he was great tonight."

BBC journalist Tom English responded: "What we're doing here is falling into the Twitter vortex. Some blokes slagging him off.

What do the wider Celtic support, the ones not on Twitter, what do they think? They probably value him. They see his worth and what he's doing for the team so we're probably highlighting the negativity here."
