Celtic to play Hearts in League Cup quarter-finals

HOLDERS Celtic will travel to Edinburgh to meet Hearts in the League Cup quarter-finals.

The Parkhead side knocked Hearts out in the last 16 last season en route to winning the trophy.

It is the fourth time in a row that Hearts and Celtic have been paired in a knockout competition, with Celtic winning the previous three.

Hibernian have also been drawn at home, against managerless Dundee United. The sides met in the competition at the same stage last season, United prevailing on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Morton, who knocked out Motherwell in the third round, have been rewarded with a home tie against St Johnstone.

The draw has also thrown up a Highland derby, with Inverness Caledonian Thistle hosting Ross County.

The ties are scheduled to be played on 27 amd 28 October.
