The Hoops have reportedly asked to be kept informed of developments after Doyle’s blistering start to the 2014/15 season but could face a battle for the Irishman.

Doyle, 26, is on the radar of a number of English clubs, including Millwall, Bristol City, Derby County, Cardiff City, Sheffield United and Preston North End.

Doyle, who joined Hibernian from Sligo Rovers in 2011, scored 14 goals in 57 appearances for the Easter Road side, before linking up with his former Sligo boss Paul Cook at Chesterfield in May 2013.

The Dubliner scored 13 goals in his first season with The Spireites, as they achieved promotion to League One and reached the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final and has been in fine form in the first yhalf of this season, netting two hat-tricks and scoring 21 goals in all competitions.

The player’s representatives are to meet with Chesterfield bosses later this week.

It is believed Cook would be reluctant to lose a key player but would accept Doyle may want to take a step up in his career.
