The Green Brigade raised the cash for Alzheimer Scotland after the 76-year-old’s family revealed he is battling dementia.

The group said: “Yet again we have been left humbled by the generosity of the Celtic support. Given the constant and incredible backing we receive, we feel a responsibility that extends beyond our membership.

“In light of this, and the recent news concerning Billy McNeill, we will make a donation to Alzheimer Scotland in honour of our greatest ever captain.”

The Green Brigade raised £176,000 towards Palestinian charities earlier this season.
