Of course, Rangers, along with everyone else in the Scottish top flight, have been out of the title race for quite some time. Though it would make victory on 12 March just that little bit sweeter for the Parkhead faithful.

The Ibrox side were almost officially eliminated on Wednesday night. With Celtic thumping Caley Thistle in the Highlands, Rangers saw a 2-0 lead slip at home to St Johnstone before Emerson Hyndman fired into a late winner.

Aberdeen are the only other side in the top flight who can still mathematically win the title, as Celtic require just seven more points to secure the crown.

The league leaders made it their 27th straight domestic win as they trounced Inverness CT 4-0 in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Moussa Dembele scored a double to take his total to 31 goals for the season, while Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong also netted for the champions-elect.
