There were talks held in November proposing that one of the Dark Blues’ home fixtures would be played in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, against Premiership champions Celtic.

Though it would likely be blocked by FIFA, that has not stopped both clubs pressing on with negotiations and trying to arrange for a venue on the Eastern seaboard for the opening quarter of next year.

Dundee’s Managing Director John Nelms said: “We are working very hard to move things forward. It’s an exciting prospect for everyone involved.

“We want to make Dundee and Scottish football a global brand.”

The Dees’ owner Tim Keyes is also pushing for this one-off tie to happen and the club told supporters that they are still looking for the fixture to come true. Although, the SPFL have not ratified the plan, making it a non-starter at present.

Part of the statement read: “The Club wants to make supporters aware that we are still in negotiations to play one of our home matches of the 2016/17 campaign in the USA.”
