Carnie and Twaddle return to management with Lothian Thistle HV

Grant CARNIE, who guided Whitehill Welfare to the East of Scotland League Cup at the end of last season then resigned almost immediately afterwards, has made a quick return to football as the new manager of Central Taxis Premier Division club Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale.

Lothian Thistle had appointed David Smith, the former Whitehill and Montrose manager, as their new manager earlier in the summer but he never had the opportunity to lead them into competitive action.

“Things did not work out,” said a Lothian Thistle spokesman. However, Smith himself resigned from the position questioning “the integrity of some people”. Carnie, who managed Whitehill to their first silverware in nearly four seasons, is delighted to be back in management with his assistant at Whitehill, former Hearts player Kevin Twaddle.

“I was offered the job at the beginning of the week and was happy to accept it,” said Carnie.

“The structure at Lothian Thistle HV is excellent and they have some very good players with the potential throughout the club to develop young players.”
