Burntisland aiming to be
Myles better

NEW Burntisland Shipyard manager Myles Allan has
revealed his immediate aim at the Central Taxis First Division club is to “assemble a squad which can become competitive”.

Allan, a former assistant boss at Rosyth Juniors and Dundonald Bluebell, takes over from Billy Whitehead who was axed after the Fife outfit crashed to 7-1 and 9-2 defeats against Leith Athletic and Easthouses Lily in their two previous matches. The most recent recruits to
East Seniors football have also suffered a 5-2 defeat by Duns and lost 4-2 to Coldstream.

Allan, a former striker with Edinburgh Athletic (now Leith Athletic) in the East of Scotland League, said: “As soon as I was aware that there was a vacancy I was straight on the phone to the Burntisland secretary
because this is a fantastic
opportunity for me. I’ve only been in charge for a few days, but already I realise there is a lot of potential here which I have to encourage the current players to release.

“The players probably have struggled a bit in the first half of this season with moving up from amateur football to playing at a semi-professional level. I want to build for the
future and as well as the current squad there is probably not an
available player in the whole of Fife that I have not contacted since I took the job. I will also try to get players on loan to
supplement the squad.”

Allan’s assistant will be
Jason McCrindle, who played in the East Seniors for Edinburgh Athletic, Craigroyston and
Peebles Rovers. The new
management duo’s first game in charge is at home to Leith Athletic tomorrow.
