Buckie’s season now has a silver lining

Buckie Thistle salvaged a disappointing campaign with silverware at the weekend after securing a 2-0 victory over pre-match favourites Cove Rangers in the Highland League Cup final.

Before Cove had a chance to settle into the tie in Banff, Shawn Scott bagged the opener. Cove tore back but the Jags struck what proved a killer second after 25 minutes. Paul Napier’s burst on the right ended with a lay-off to captain David Macrae, who almost burst the net from 20 yards.
