Cove Rangers increased their lead at the Highland League summit to two points despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Buckie. It was a missed opportunity of sorts for the Aberdeen side who were thwarted by some brilliant goalkeeping from Buckie’s Kevin Main.

Buckie struck in the third minute when a deep Shaun Carroll corner fell to Jordan Sutherland to fire home.

Main produced three fantastic saves to deny the visitors but the equaliser came seven minutes after the break. A looping Ritchie Singer cross was converted on the volley at the back post by Jordan Leyden to secure the draw.

Nairn County missed the chance to leapfrog visitors Inverurie Locos when they shared the points in a six-goal thriller. The visitors went ahead on 40 minutes when Neil MacLean struck. But two minutes later Wayne Mackintosh levelled for County.

Top scorer Conor Gethins made it 2-1 just before the break and then notched his 22nd of the season on 65 minutes to make it 3-1. Andy Low reduced the gap just after the re-start before Clark Bain snatched a point for Locos three minutes from time.

Nathan Sharp hit the only goal of the game on the hour mark to give champions Forres Mechanics full points at Brora.

Clach moved into the top five after a 3-1 home win over Rothes. Gordy Morrison slotted home the opener early on and, late in the second period, Chris Ross made it 2-0. Sean Ellis grabbed the third just before full-time whistle, Greg Simpson scoring Rothes’ injury-time consolation.

Fraserburgh ran out 3-2 winners in an exciting contest at home to Huntly. Willie West opened for the Broch but a quick-fire double from Andrzej Kleczkowski gave Huntly the half-time lead. Parity was restored on 74 minutes when Graham Johnston struck home a free-kick. Ten minutes later, Scott Barbour completed the comeback.

In the only other game, Lossiemouth secured their first win of the season, beating Fort William 3-1 at home to move off bottom spot.
