Broxburn see off leaders

Broxburn 2 Tranent 0

THIS match would have a big bearing on the South Division title race and it was league leaders Tranent who started the better with Paul Harvey heading wide in two minutes when it looked easier to score. In five minutes he again headed goalward but Maley was equal to the header.

Broxburn were not to be outdone as Stewart Ritchie latched on to a Jeffrey cross to send his side in at half-time 1-0 up.

The second half was more even with Pearson the first to test any keeper after 65 minutes.

On the hour mark Harvey should have equalised after running on to a great run and pass from McPartland, only to shot wide.

With Tranent pushing for the equaliser they were hit with the sucker punch as Barry Craig shrugged of the challenge from White to run free and wide to cross over to unmarked John Jeffrey to seal the victory.

Broxburn are now breathing down Tranent's neck in table.
