Broch man Cowie says ‘I do’ to delayed move

HIGHLAND: A wedding date has given Fraserburgh a timely boost – with hard-working midfielder Dean Cowie now committed to the Broch’s title bid.

Saturday’s man-of-the-match has postponed a move Down Under to attend his brother’s wedding and will remain at Bellsela Park until the summer.

Cowie’s part in a 3-2 victory over Formartine underlined his worth, with the Broch leaping to fourth place – six points behind leaders Forres.

A trademark Bobby Mann free-kick had Steve Paterson’s Formartine ahead after 12 minutes.

However, Graham Johnston’s fine volley fired Fraserburgh level after 26 minutes, and Peter-Alexander Bruce struck again soon after.

Alan Hale smashed in the third after 63 minutes, and Stuart Mackay’s reply for Formartine was not enough.

In the other game to beat the freeze, Wick Academy cruised to a 4-1 home win over bottom side Strathspey Thistle.
