Ladbrokes say they have been hit by a flurry of wagers on the former Celtic manager taking over at Easter Road.

Hibs are searching for a new head coach following the departure of Alan Stubbs to Rotherham United.

Lennon is now odds on favourite for the job having been backed into 1/4 from 14/1 after sustained support for him to move to Hibs.

He is currently out of work after parting company with Bolton Wanderers.

David Macdonald of Ladbrokes said: “The early money had been for John Hughes but in next to no time there’s been a flurry of support for Neil Lennon.

“He’s been supported at all prices down from 14/1 so we’ve decided to take a breather and wait for this one to settle down.”

Lennon was interviewed for the Celtic job last month but lost out to Brendan Rodgers.

Hibs kick off their new season on 14 July with a Europa League second qualifying round tie.

The club released a statement today saying they had begun the search for a “high calibre” coach to replace Stubbs.
