Bo’ness out of cup after Sauchie shock

Bo’ness UNITED crashed out of the Dechmont Forklift League Cup against a Sauchie side who battled their way to a 2-0 win at Newtown Park last night.

After a frustrating opening 45 minutes, Sauchie grabbed the lead with a terrific goal from striker Alan Scott. He picked the ball up just inside the Bo’ness box before twisting his way clear on the left and firing home from six yards, in off the near post.

Bo’ness rallied and had a lot of pressure on the Sauchie goal but the visitors’ defence was solid. They had the
hunger for the fight, something the Bo’ness players lacked.

With time running out, Sauchie secured the win and a place in the semi-finals as right winger Brian Morgan outpaced the home defence before sliding the ball across goal for Dougie Wilson to slam into the net.

Sauchie now face Newtongrange Star in the last four.

Bo’ness manager Paul Ronald’s misery was compounded with the news goalkeeper Scott Christie has signed a two-year-deal with Hamilton.
