Third Division: Alloa expectations rising as they oust Stranraer to become leaders of the pack

Queen’s Park 6 - 0 Elgin City

Free-scoring Jamie Longworth bagged four second-half goals in 25 minutes after Martin McBride gave the hosts a 35th minute lead.

They added a sixth in the 80th minute courtesy of a Craig Smith header.

Alloa 1 - 0 Annan

Alloa Athletic now lead the Third Division after Ryan McCord fed the in-form Stevie May for an impressive winner in the 30th minute.

Third-placed Annan pushed for an equaliser but couldn’t get past Alloa goalkeeper Scott Bain.

Berwick 2 - 2 Stranraer

Stranraer slipped to second place despite taking the lead through Stuart McColm in the sixth minute, with Steven Notman equalising four minutes later. Lee Currie’s spectacular free-kick made it 2-1 to the hosts but Craig Malcolm salvaged a draw.

Montrose 4 - 0 Clyde

Montrose enjoyed an emphatic 4-0 win over Clyde at Links Park.

David McGowan opened the scoring in the 51st minute and Scott Johnston doubled their lead moments later before Jamie Winter and Steven McNalley completed the rout.

Peterhead 1 - 0 East Stirling

Peterhead emerged as 1-0 victors against East Stirling who are now marooned at the foot of the table.

Dennis Wyness got the decisive goal in the 35th minute, finishing clinically from a Scott Ross pass.
