Bathgate bubble burst in derby draw with Whitburn

BATHGATE'S faint Super League title hopes suffered a blow as they drew 2-2 with local rivals Whitburn last night.

Bathgate took the lead through top scorer Jim Lister after 26 minutes but, just before the break, Chris Dolan equalised from the penalty spot.

Into the second half and Bathgate substitute Gary Fallen fired them ahead again but a fighting display from Whitburn saw their substitute striker score with a super goal to give them a much needed point away from home as they struggle to lift themselves from the foot of the table.

With ten games remaining Whitburn, on this performance, should have the firepower to climb to safety.

Meanwhile, in the South Division, Broxburn rattled in three without reply against Edinburgh and closed the gap between themselves and Tranent to seven points with two games in hand. Blackburn fell away badly losing 4-1 at home to bottom club Livingston who are starting to show huge signs of improvement with new boss Andy Johnstone in charge.

West Calder had another good win to maintain their challenge. This time they beat Harthill 2-1 at Hermand Park. Spartans Juniors won 4-1 at home to Dalkeith and Stoneyburn lost 1-0 at home to Sauchie.
