Arbroath warn against complacency at Gayfield

Arbroath are flying high at the top of the division but assistant manager Todd Lumsden warned: “It does not matter how well we have done in the league – this game will have to be won on its own merits. We have to go out and earn the right to progress.”

The hosts must do without on-loan Dundee midfielder Dylan Carreiro, who is at an international training camp with Canada, as well as the injured Jordan Lowdon and Jack Smith. Hamilton Accies, though, have given permission for the on-loan Aldin El-Zubaidi to play.

Montrose, looking to bounce back from a 4-0 defeat by East Fife last week, welcome back Stephen Robb from injury but Leighton McIntosh is suspended and Terry Masson is unavailable. “It is a tie that we can win,” said manager George Shields.

Colin Cameron’s Berwick Rangers are missing Andy Russell, Scott Maxwell and Ben Miller for their match with Highland League side Formartine. Steve Paterson’s side are without injured pair Stephen Jeffrey and Sam French.

Bo’ness, the East Region Junior champions, are missing only Andy Scott, who is attending a wedding, as they host North Region Junior champions Culter. Hugh Robertson, a League Cup winner with Aberdeen in 1995, is the player/manager of the visitors and Nicky Gordon is his team’s dangerman with 13 goals in ten appearances this season.

Highland League top dogs Brora Rangers have Scott Graham banned and Adam Porritt out injured when they take on Banks o’Dee. The Junior outfit will look to Keith Horne to add to his eight goals this season.

Cove Rangers have already scored 18 in the cup so far this season but they have doubts over Stirling Smith, Paul Emslie, Jamie Lennox and Jamie McAllister for the visit of Annan. The visitors are missing Stephen Sloan, Matty Flynn, Derek Carcary and Kenny Mackay and will check Steven Swinglehurst, Steven Logan, Scott Davidson and Kieran Brannan.

East Fife player/manager Gary Naysmith and midfielder Alan Cook will both miss the visit of Threave Rovers due to injury. Naysmith – who must also do without on-loan pair Liam Smith of Hearts and Jonathan Page of Dunfermline as permission has not been given for them to play – said: “I was part of an Everton side that lost to Shrewsbury so I am well aware cup shocks can happen.”

Threave, bottom of the Lowland League, have doubts over Scott Wilby and David Frew.

Lowland League leaders Edinburgh City take on Auchinleck Talbot in an intiguing tie. The capital side have Ross Allum available after suspension, while Ortega Deniran, who used to play for Levski and Slavia Sofia, looks set for a substitute role. The Ayrshire Junior giants are sweating over the fitness of former Raith Rovers captain Mark Campbell.

Elgin City will miss defender Matthew Cooper in their all-Highland clash with Forres Mechanics, who welcome Stuart Sone back but have lost Graeme Grant and Ross McPherson to injury.

Gretna 2008’s first ever Scottish Cup run pits them against Queen’s Park, the first ever Scottish Cup winners. Joseph Slattery misses out for Gretna with a wrist injury, while the visitors were last night still waiting to discover if Partick Thistle will let on-loan striker Chris Duggan feature.

Elsewhere, Inverurie Locos have doubts over Andy Hunter, Mark Souter and Kieron Adams as they preprare to face Hurlford United, who have scored 14 times in their maiden Scottish Cup journey so far. Linlithgow Rose have a doubt over goalkeeper Scott Christie as they entertain a Dalbeattie Star side that have striker Scott Milligan struggling to be fit.

Nairn County are at full strength for the visit of a Huntly side that will be without David Booth. Spartans host fellow Lowland League side East Kilbride minus suspended John Grant. The visitors welcome back Craig Hastings from the ban that kept him out of their win at Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale in their first ever Scottish Cup tie last month.

Former Aberdeen striker Darren Mackie misses out as Turriff United take on Barry Ferguson’s Clyde. The Bully Wee have permission to play loan signings Aidan McIlduff, Craig Halkett and Euan Smith but Ferguson is an injury doubt because of a knee problem.

Gareth Thom, suspended for the first-round win over Girvan, is back for Whitehill Welfare’s match with East Stirling, who are set to give French striker Lerou Tahin his debut.

In tomorrow’s fixture, former Falkirk midfielder Pedro Mouthino could feature for Stirling University against Albion Rovers.
