Alba put Glasgow City girls on film

THE girls of Glasgow City – one of Scotland’s most successful sporting sides of 2011 – are about to become stars of the small screen as BBC Alba air a six-part documentary on the fortunes of the country’s leading women’s football team.

Following the Scottish champions at home and abroad in the Uefa Women’s Champions League last season, the TV cameras capture the team and staff on and off the pitch to provide a unique insight into life as a top female football side in a country.

Domestic competition against rivals Celtic and Hibernian is only one small aspect for City, as it is Europe where they excel, becoming the first Scottish women’s team ever to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League. They then unbelievably make it on to the last 16 of the tournament competing against entirely professional sides.
