Airdrie 0 - 3 Cowdenbeath: Third on the trot for Cowdenbeath

Cowdenbeath won their third First Division game in a row, with Kyle Miller scoring in the first half and Lewis Coult along with Marc McKenzie netting after Airdrie’s Mark Warren had been needlessly dismissed in the second.

The visitors struck after five minutes when Scott Linton’s delightful left foot curled over a free-kick and Miller was at the front of a queue of visiting players to apply the finishing touch from six yards out with a precise header.

The Central Park side missed an opportunity to double their lead on 28 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Kieron Stallard pulled on Greg Stewart’s shirt. McKenzie’s effort from 12 yards was saved by Kenny Arthur with the shot-stopper then scrambling away McKenzie’s follow-up effort.

Airdrie’s Warren sent in a fierce drive on 51 minutes from a Willie McLaren free kick, which brought a fine fingertip save from Thomas Flynn. However, the Diamonds were reduced to ten men on 65 minutes when Warren clashed with McKenzie and, after pushing the Fifer, the fullback then decided to make contact using his head and he was shown a straight red card.

The win was sealed as Coult was sent clear with 14 minutes left, and when his shot hit Arthur and rebounded off the striker, it went over the line.

Ten minutes later, McKenzie tapped in after substitute Lewis Milne had been denied.
