“The improvement in his game throughout last season was fantastic and I’m sure he will continue that development over the course of this season,” Houston told the club’s website.

“You know what you get with Danny, a solid, hardworking goalkeeper and a great all-round character.”

The new signing left a personalised message to Falkirk fans on a special phone line, saying “Guess who’s back, back again!”

Rogers added: “I’ll never forget those play-off matches last year and the atmosphere at them all was incredible. That was my final memory of last year and I can’t wait to make many more this season.”

The New York-born Irishman has never made an appearance for his parent club Aberdeen, but travelled with the squad to their game against CS Fola Esch. He has spent time on loan at Airdrie and Dumbarton in previous seasons.
