Football: Blooming good timing for Bonnyrigg boss Miller

He'll be back in the dugout for tomorrow's "Battle of the Roses" at Linlithgow, though, and is hoping the Super League champions can keep up the good work they produced for his two assistants, Ian Black and Finlay Wells.

"When I walked into the dressing-room at training on Tuesday, I was told to go back to Portugal," said Miller. "That was great because I was glad to come back after the team had managed to get two good results behind them."

Linlithgow are currently nine points adrift of leaders Bo'ness – Bonnyrigg are two points further adrift but have games in hand – after drawing five of their opening seven games, But Miller says it is far too early for anyone to be writing off Dave Baikie's side as title contenders.

"I know people are saying their form has been indifferent but they've only lost one game in the Super League," he added.

Sean Paliczka got in on the act with a double during the rout of Maud and his manager believes the striker is starting to fire on all cylinders again after recovering from the leg break he sustained in the middle of last season.

"He's getting sharper and sharper all the time," said Miller.

Bo'ness, the only unbeaten side in the Super League, are away to Glenrothes, who are managerless following Stevie Kirk's recent departure, while Musselburgh return to top-league action when they play host to bottom club Camelon.

Newtongrange Star, who are three points behind Bo'ness in second place, take on Bathgate for the second time in two weeks. Graeme Armstrong's side having won 2-0 at Creamery Park before following that up with a Junior Cup triumph over Pollok.

Whitburn will be aiming to join both Newtongrange and Bathgate, 4-0 winners at Steelend, in the third round of the Junior Cup when they face Sauchie at the second time of asking after that game was called off last weekend.
