Florence plays part in GB winning team gold

CANOEING: David Florence and Richard Hounslow struck team gold for GB Canoeing at the European Championships in Augsburg, Germany yesterday.

Florence, from Edinburgh, and Hounslow had to settle for fourth place in the final of the canoe double but led from the start to win the C2M teams final.

Earlier, Fiona Pennie had claimed a bronze in the women’s kayak single, having qualified for the final in seventh place.

Britain’s two medals today followed on from a silver for Mallory Franklin in Saturday’s women’s canoe singles.
