Monday

ROY Hodgson sends out his injury and suspension-hit England side for their first competitive match under his tenure this afternoon when they take on a rapidly-improving France in Donetsk for their opening match of Euro 2012. The second match of the day sees hosts Ukraine take on Sweden. In cricket, the rain-ravaged third Test between England and West Indies continues, while the Team GB boxing, diving, weightlifting and equestrian teams to compete at London 2012 are due to be announced.

Tuesday

TODAY’S Euro 2012 action comes from Group A and features Greece v Czech Republic and Poland v Russia. In tennis, the Aegon Championships enter their second day at Queen’s Club, while in rugby Scotland’s under-20 side take on their Argentinian counterparts in the Junior World Championship, having suffered a heavy defeat to Australia and a narrow loss at the hands of France in their opening matches. Cycling’s Tour de Suisse continues, while the GB fencing team for London 2012 will be announced.

GROUP B is the focus for Euro 2012 today, with Denmark taking on Portugal in Lviv and Holland facing Germany in Kiev. A shock defeat at the hands of the Danes in their opening match has heaped pressure on the Dutch ahead of tonight’s glamour clash. In cricket, Middlesex host the touring West Indies, while the GB cycling team for London 2012 will to be announced. In rugby union, England face the SA Barbarians South in Kimberley. There’s racing at Hamilton, Beverley, Haydock, Kempton and Yarmouth.

Thursday

THE Republic of Ireland face the might of Spain in their second match of Euro 2012, while the other match in Group C features Italy v Croatia. Charles Green’s consortium launch their CVA at Rangers, while Hibs boss Pat Fenlon is up before the SFA over an alleged gesture during the Scottish Cup final. In golf, the US Open tees off in California while the GB Olympic rowing team will be named. In Edinburgh, Great Britain take on Belgium in a volleyball international.

Friday

ENGLAND are in action again at Euro 2012 this evening with Sweden the opposition. The day’s other Group D match features Ukraine v France. There’s a glamour race meeting at Musselburgh in the form of the Jenners and Frasers Ladies Day, which features a host of fashion events as well as seven races. The event is a sell-out for an eighth consecutive year. There are further meetings scheduled for Aintree, Chepstow, Goodwood, Sandown and York. Golf’s US Open enters its second day, along with the St Omer Open and the Deutsche Bank Swiss Women’s Open.
