Monday

The Scottish Premier League holds a historic agm today, with the identity of who will take Rangers’ place in the top-flight expected to be decided. Dunfermline and Dundee will await developments with bated berath. On the pitch, Morton host Kilmarnock in pre-season football action. Ayr Racecourse hosts its Glasgow Fair Festival Family Raceday . The presence of former champion jockey Kieren Fallon is expected to swell the crowd. The first race is at 2.05pm.

Tuesday

There are a number of pre-season friendlies in Scotland this evening, including Elgin City v Aberdeen, Raith Rovers v Motherwell and Nairn County v Ross County. Celtic continue their tour of Germany with a game against VfR Aalen. There are also a handful of Champions League second qualifying round second leg ties on the fixture list, while In tennis, the Atlanta Championships, the Credit Agricole Swiss Open and the Bet-at-home Hamburg Open get under way.

Wednesday

Hibs open their pre-season tour of Belgium with a game against Lierse, while closer to home Falkirk host Hearts, Dundee Utd take on Everton, Inverness travel to Deveronvale and Kilmarnock head for Wrexham. A number of the leading English clubs are also in action, with friendlies including AmaZulu v Manchester Utd, Seattle Sounders v Chelsea and Stevenage v Spurs. The Champions League second qualifying round second leg ties also continue.

Thursday

The 141st Open Championship tees off at Royal Lytham, with home hopes high that Luke Donald or Lee Westwood can become the first English golfer since Tony Jacklin in 1969 to win the event in England. In cricket, the first Test between England and South Africa begins at the Oval. In football, St Johnstone begin their Europa League qualifying campaign with a second round tie away to Turkish side Eskisehirspor.

Friday

The Team GB men’s and women’s sides are in pre-Olympics friendly action against Brazil and Sweden respectively, with the women’s squad featuring Scottish pair Ifeoma Dieke and Kim Little. In cricket, Ireland host Bangladesh in a Twenty20 international, while in motor racing German Grand Prix practice gets under way at Hockenhiem. In Rugby League’s Stobart Super League it’s Catalan Dragons v St Helens, Leeds v Bradford and Salford v Widnes. There are race meeting scheduled for Ascot, Haydock, Newmarket, Nottingham and Pontefract.
