Fishing: Your Say

WE asked about the policy on fishery cancellations . . .

Colin Thompson, Canongate: "If a water cancels and it is not considered too rough, it should be left to the individual."

Alec Murphy, Dalkeith: "If a fishery is going to cancel then they should notify various individuals, or club secretaries say at least an hour beforehand or they should be held liable for travel costs. If the individual fails to turn up the management can and will charge."

Tony Bargos, Ferniehill: "There are certain fisheries who, rightly or wrongly, cancel even if it is not wild but they expect it to be at some point over the next so many hours. It is not fair on the visitor who has made the trip only to be let down. The onus must be on the management to inform clients if the fishing is off or on to avoid travel and expense."
