Fired-up Jets aiming to end mixed campaign on a high

The venue hosts the four semi-final ties in both the men’s and women’s competitions and Jets are out to end their season on a high.

The Capital outfit have had a mixed season, just squeezing into the end-of-season play-offs, but they beat North  Lanarkshire away from home in straight sets last month.

It gave them a measure of revenge for the 3-0 defeat they suffered at home to North  Lanarkshire in December.

The other women’s semi-final sees champions and holders City of Edinburgh taking on Troon Team Ayrshire, having just pipped their arch rivals for the league title.

“Edinburgh were the better team on the day but there is not much to choose between the teams,” said Vince Krawczyk, the Troon coach.

Edinburgh have won all three matches against Troon so far this season and will go into the tie as favourites.

Both men’s and women’s competitions could see all-Edinburgh finals for the first time.

In the men’s semi-finals,  Edinburgh Jets face Glasgow Mets and holders City of Edinburgh meet Kilmarnock Blaze in a high-noon shoot-out.

Edinburgh breezed through their league programme undefeated but the one sore point of their season has been a loss to Blaze in the final of the Top Teams Cup.

The Mets-versus-Jets tie could be the tightest of all four semi-finals but Jets have the weapons to win, with Paul Glissov, Pawel Dylon and Marcin Krakwoski all contributing this season.
