Fans fast-tracked at Murrayfield

Edinburgh Rugby are introducing a new system to allow supporters to print their match tickets at home.

Under the TicketFast system, fans choosing the service will be sent an email with a PDF ticket attached. The printed ticket – which features two barcodes – can then be scanned at the turnstiles to enter the game.

Scanners which read ticket barcodes were successfully tested at the club’s recent match against Dragons and will be used for future games, starting with this Friday for the club’s RaboDirect PRO12 game against Scarlets at Murrayfield.

Match-day cash and credit card transactions will still be available at turnstiles.

Ticket services manager Colin Douglas said: “We’re committed to providing a top-class ticketing service for Edinburgh Rugby and are delighted to introduce an easy to use system already popular at a number of English Premiership football clubs.

“TicketFast is a quick, simple and convenient way to make sure fans never miss a match, never have to wait for tickets in the snail-mail or queue at the collections desk on match-day.”

Supporters can take advantage of this new facility by selecting the “print at home” from the “postage options” menu on the ticket purchase confirmation page when buying tickets online.

A similar system was introduced at Edinburgh when the club was briefly in private ownership under Bob Carruthers. Supporters were able to receive a barcode on their mobile phones, which could be scanned to gain entry.

Coincidentally, Carruthers resurfaced yesterday when he issued media with an invitation to a book launch in Edinburgh today. “The hope is that the book will provoke a national debate with regard to the future of professional rugby in Scotland,” said Carruthers.
