European fightback against Americans

EUROPE'S college golfers produced a singles rally against the USA to stay in the hunt for the Palmer Cup at Royal Portrush.

Dean Robertson's side, trailing 6-2 after the opening fourballs and foursomes, won the second day session 5-3 to leave the US holding a narrow 9-7 lead with eight singles matches to play.

The Europeans, aiming for a third straight Palmer Cup win, reduced the overnight US advantage and won the top four matches to square the contest before the visitors dominated the lower order.
