ERC to probe Murrayfield fracas claim

EUROPEAN rugby authorities are investigating reports of a trackside disturbance after Edinburgh’s Heineken Cup quarter-final victory over Toulouse on Saturday, with suggestions of an altercation between home fans and the French bench.

The SRU declined to comment further yesterday after a European Rugby Cup (ERC) statement said: “Following reported incidents during the quarter-final at Murrayfield, ERC disciplinary officer Roger O’Connor will contact both clubs to request full details... then review the information provided before determining whether any further action is warranted. In the interests to fairness... ERC will not be in a position to comment further until both clubs have had the opportunity to respond.”
