Emily goes distance for GB

Following her 40-hour journey to Font Romeu altitude training base in the Pyrenees last weekend, Capital distance runner Emily Stewart (Edinburgh AC) was back on her travels today as she prepared to compete in the World University Cross Country Championships in Lodz, Poland, writes SANDY SUTHERLAND. The 20-year-old was driven by her coach Ian Whyte to Barcelona from where she flew to Heathrow to join the British Universities team who were flying out to Poland on Thursday.

Also in the team is Kilbarchan’s Elspeth Curran (Glasgow).

Both will miss the Scottish Universities (track) Championships at Grangemouth today.
