Eggert Jonsson appeal lodged

EGGERT Jonsson should be available against Celtic tonight after Hearts appealed his red card against Rangers.

Hearts' letter of appeal and referee Iain Brines' written evidence will now be considered by a three-man panel, who are unlikely to be able to convene until tomorrow.

Jonsson got a straight red in the second half of Hearts' 4-0 defeat at Ibrox on Saturday for a tackle on Nikica Jelavic. Hearts manager Jim Jefferies said the club felt the sending-off was harsh.

He said: "There were one or two other challenges on the pitch - I'm not saying they were red cards but they weren't any less dangerous. We've looked at it from different angles. It was a foul - his leg has gone through the stride of the player and he's got a touch on the ball. We feel we have a genuine case."
