Edinburgh club consider rejoining British League

In a welcome move for Capital athletics, Edinburgh AC are seriously considering bidding to re-qualify for the British League, three years after dropping out.

Encouraged by the spectacular progress of Glasgow City, who could win promotion for the second successive year after qualifying two years ago and winning Division Four last year, Edinburgh have appealed to their athletes to keep their diaries free for Saturday, September 17, the date of this year's qualifying match at Abingdon, near Oxford.

"If we qualify for the BAL it will give athletes another tier of competition above the Scottish League and encourage them to stay in the sport," says Keith Ridley, the men's team manager.
