Dunfermline turn to Craig for goals

DUNFERMLINE Athletic have turned to freed Aberdeen striker Steven Craig after losing out to the Pittodrie club in their bid to land Stevie Crawford.

Craig, who has been out of favour at Aberdeen, negotiated his release from the club hours before the transfer deadline and is now able to find a new club outwith the window. Dunfermline are ready to swoop and have invited the player to join up with the rest of the East End Park squad on Monday.

The money chairman John Yorkston set aside to make Crawford the highest-paid player at Dunfermline could now also be used to sign former Monaco wing-back Stephane Maurel, who spent last week on trial in Fife.
