Doherty and Marmion lead in rain

TORRENTIAL rain played havoc with the opening day of the PGA EuroPro Tour Motocaddy Masters at Wensum Valley, Norfolk.

Due to flooded parts of the course, play was suspended from 12:10pm to 4pm and then, after it had been resumed, there was a further suspension from 5:44pm. Only 30-odd players in the field completed their rounds. Some have yet to start.

Joint leaders at two under are former Scottish boys matchplay champion Paul Doherty (Vale of Glamorgan) and Dale Marmion (Eaton GC). On level par are Wallace Booth (Comrie) and John Gallacher (Swanston), having played 15 and six holes respectively. Elliot Saltman (Archerfield Links) and John Henry (Clydebank & Dist) are two over par. Saltman has played 15 holes, Hendry has played six. The best score in the clubhouse is a one-under-par 71 by Dan Seymour (Newburgy Golf Centre).
