Derby boost for Whitburn

WHITBURN may be out of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup but manager Derek Strickland reckons his team should still have plenty of incentive when they go to Fauldhouse for a tasty derby tomorrow.

"The East of Scotland Cup is a massive competition and it will give everyone a boost if we can have a good run it," said Strickland of the second-round tie.

The Super League side haven't played since losing 1-0 at Camelon in the middle of last month and their manager is desperate to see football being played again in the East Region.

"I live only two miles from Fauldhouse and I'm optimistic this game is going to be played at the third attempt," added Strickland. "We've all had a mini-break due to the weather and it is going to be a long season from now on in as everyone plays catch up.

"The only bonus has been the fact injured players are available again which means I've got a full squad to pick from and that squad is going to have to be used."
