David James stays at Pompey as Stoke move falls through
The England international was on the verge of a move to Stoke City but the deal fell through after Pompey, according to the BBC, refused to pay his wages until the end of the season.
Stoke manager Tony Pulis said on Thursday he was keen on bringing the England international to the Britannia Stadium on a short-term deal. However, those plans have now been shelved.
