Daniel Majstorovic: 'Supporters have given us the incentive'

AS DANIEL Majstorovic walked around Celtic Park last Sunday, the Swede struggled to comprehend that the team had not won the league, given the way supporters were applauding them.

But the central defender knew that, despite the touching gesture, Celtic had ultimately fallen short and he is desperate to gain compensation in the Scottish Cup final tomorrow.

"The experience of the last game was something really special for all the players," Majstorovic told Celtic's website. "It was like we won the league, and I can only imagine what it would be like had we won it. So we want to respond and give them the title and we are going to fight for our lives for this.

"Of course, it was a disappointing day for us. It was the target for the whole season to win the league but the response from the fans gave us an extra boost for the final, and now we all want to do everything for the fans and gaffer to win the cup.

"It's going to be a massive game for us. Of course, the target was to go and win the league and cup. So the aim is now to win this cup. So, of course, it will be very important."

The fact that the opponents who Celtic had brushed aside 4-0 in their final league game were Motherwell is irrelevant in the context of tomorrow's clash at Hampden, insists Majstorovic.

"It's going to be a totally different game," he said.

"They will come as a totally different team with different players, so it's going to be a different game.

"Motherwell are a good team. They fight a lot and work hard. And a final is a final and anything can happen so it will be a tough game."
