Daniel Majstorovic says Celtic are on mission to reward fans

DANIEL MAJSTOROVIC claims the Celtic players "will fight for their lives" to ensure Hoops fans get to celebrate a Scottish Cup final win over Motherwell at Hampden tomorrow.

Neil Lennon's men go into the game having lost the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title to Rangers last Sunday by just one point.

Celtic supporters gave their players and manager great backing before, during and after the last-day 4-0 home win over the Fir Park side which, ultimately, became no more than a one-sided dress rehearsal for this weekend's showpiece occasion.

The Sweden defender is looking to finish off the season with a cup win in appreciation. "We want to give the fans a trophy and we are going to fight for our lives for it," he said.

"It was a disappointing day for us on Sunday but the response we got from the fans gave us a boost.

"We finished with 92 points and broke the clean sheet record, so of course it is frustrating that we didn't go all the way.

"But the job the gaffer has done this season with a totally new squad is really amazing and if we can continue the way we are working just now it is going to be an interesting future for everybody."

Majstorovic believes winning the cup will provide a psychological fillip for the club ahead of next season. "Saturday is going to be a very important game for us," said the former AEK Athens stopper.

"A trophy is a trophy and if we win the cup it is going to be a massive boost for us for the coming season. The gaffer deserves the trophy, as do the players, the fans and the club.

"That is what we play football for, we want to win trophies.

"So it's is going to be an important game for everyone."

"Motherwell will come out as a different team," he added.

"But we know what we have to do, we have to play our game.

"And if we play as we have played in the last couple of games, everyone will be happy."
