Czech twins lured as part of Parkhead youth drive

CELTIC continued their long-term recruitment strategy when they signed Czech Republic youth international twin brothers Filip and Patrik Twardzik from Hertha Berlin yesterday.

The highly rated siblings, who will celebrate their 16th birthday a week today, have agreed initial contracts with the Scottish champions until 2011. It is understood Celtic have options to extend the deals.

Filip, a midfielder, and defender Patrik will join their 18-year-old compatriot Milan Misun at Celtic. Full-back Misun signed a four-year contract with the club earlier this month when he was recruited from FK Pribram.

Celtic have been active in acquiring young players they believe can be developed into effective first team squad members.

Niall McGinn, a 21-year-old Northern Ireland international winger, was also signed recently from Derry City for 200,000.

Dominic Cervi, a 22-year-old American goalkeeper, is also expected to join Celtic this year if international clearance is obtained.
