Cycling: Premier show from Endura

West LOTHIAN’s Endura Racing Team maintained their stranglehold on the British Cycling Premier Calendar Series with another win yesterday’s fourth round of the competition, the Lincoln Grand Prix.

This time the victor was Russell Downing, who broke away on the penultimate climb of the gruelling 13-lap event contested over 102 miles and pulled clear to come home 15 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger Marcin Bialoblocki and record his fourth win in the race, with the rest of the field more than a minute in arrears.

Endura had three other riders in the top 11 places, while Capital man Evan Oliphant was 25th for Team Raleigh.
