Cycling: McCallum in raptures over Fife opener

Lothians cycling star James McCallum is relishing the opportunity to perform in front of a Scottish audience in this year’s Halford’s Tour Series.

The Commonwealth Games medallist will again ride for Rapha Condor-Sharp this season and he is set to be a key man when the English-based outfit launches its defence of the title in the five-week series, which is now in its fourth season.

There is an added incentive for McCallum to perform well, with the competition coming north of the Border for the first time when the opening race takes place at Kirkcaldy on Tuesday, May 15, with television highlights the following evening.

Anticipating a big night in Fife in the opener of the ten-event competition, McCallum said: “I’ve been waiting for this for three years. The atmosphere will be electric and city centre cycling is back in Scotland at last.”
