Cycling: McCallum fades in Trossachs

Capital cyclist James McCallum's hopes of a third straight domestic win were dashed when he finished second at yesterday's Sam Robinson Memorial Road Race.

But there was consolation for the Commonwealth Games medallist in knowing that the man on the top step of the podium was his Rapha Condor-Sharp team mate Ben Greenwood, who had done much of the work the previous weekend in helping McCallum to victory in the Duncan McGregor Memorial event - race three in the Scottish Power Renewables Super Six Series.

And McCallum was happy to return the favour in the Trossachs yesterday, working alongside his colleague over the 80-mile route before losing out in the closing stages and crossing the line six seconds in arrears.
