Cycling: Good start for Skinner

Capital cyclist Callum Skinner kicked off his season in style with a podium finish at the Good Friday Track Meeting at Herne Hill Velodrome in London.

The 19-year-old, based at the British Cycling Academy in Manchester, showed good speed to qualify as top seed against a high-class field that included Olympic medallist Ross Edgar and several other international riders.

However, Skinner was pipped by Englishman Pete Mitchell in the final before taking second spot in the handicap sprint and fourth in the Keirin.
