Cycling: Double boost for Road Club

Riders from Capital cycling outfit Edinburgh Road Club have been
offered an extra incentive to perform well with the introduction of a rider of the month award

Backed by the club’s Sponsors, Field & Lawn Marquees and the Tri Centre, the club, formed in 1924 and with around 600 members, is awarding prizes of vouchers to the value of £100.

The first recipients are three riders who have posted wins in the past month. Les Ross took top spot in the Lothian Flyer Road Race, while Louise Borthwick was first Woman in the Meigle Women & Vets Road Race and her fellow teenager Ayrton Pellet won the Spring Classic APR.

The awards are
designed as an incentive for some of the newer riders among the club’s 700 members with the aim of helping them to achieve their potential, as Cameron Stewart, Chief Executive of Field and Lawn Marquees explained. “We are keen to support the grass roots of cycling and to promote racing for
beginners, giving them the launch pad into the sport. Cycling is also great for our health the environment,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Hibs physio Colin McLelland has renewed his backing for Edinburgh Road Club. Based at Easter Road, Back2Fitness has joined forces with bd bike coaching to offer
cyclists a “one stop”
hub for all their clinical, performance, technique and coaching needs.
