Cycling: Chris Hoy will test progress at final meeting

Sir CHRIS HOY will test the progress of his preparations for this summer’s Olympic Games when he competes at the final Revolution Meeting of the winter at Manchester Velodrome later this month.

The Capital star, 35, who recently returned from several weeks of warm-weather training, will have an outing against several of his challengers for a place in the Great Britain sprint squad and a strong line up of riders from France.

Hoy will go head-to-head with recently-crowned world champion Jason Kenny, who was awarded the gold medal after the disqualification of Frenchman Gregory Bauge for missing two drug tests. Bauge was handed a back-dated one year ban, meaning Hoy was upgraded to the silver medal position.

“The Revolution will be a good opportunity to race and test our form a few weeks ahead of the London World Cup,” said Hoy who will also face fellow Britons, Matt Crampton and Ross Edgar, as well as French trio Mickael Bourgain, Michael D’Almeida and Quentin Lafargue.
