Cycling: Chris Hoy satisfied with his prep for Olympics

Sir CHRIS HOY believes he is still on track to defend all three of his Olympic cycling titles in London this summer.

Reflecting on a solid performance at the Revolution Meeting in Manchester last Saturday, the Capital star declared himself satisfied with wins in the Keirin and team sprint, two of the events in which he won gold in Beijing. However, an elementary error in the semi-final of the individual sprint saw him lose to Briton Jason Kenny who went on to win the final.

Hoy is now looking forward to next month’s UCI World Cup at the recently completed London Velodrome, and the World Championships in Melbourne at the start of April as opportunities to seal his chance to land another Olympic golden treble.

Nevertheless, he concedes that the decision is not in his hands. He said: “It’s not about choosing if you want to do all three it’s about earning your spot. I’ll race the best I can at the world championships and if I earn the spots then I will be delighted. But there’s no sure thing so I’ll be doing the best I can to defend all three titles.”
