Cycling: Capital duo link up with MacLean

City of Edinburgh cyclists Callum Skinner and John Paul will bid to overcome strong international opposition in tomorrow night’s finale of the Revolution Series at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.

They will compete in the individual sprint events before linking up with veteran sprinter Craig MacLean – a former member of the Capital club and now a Paralympic pilot who struck gold in London last summer.

The trio will represent Scotland against a Rest of the World squad comprising Dutchman Teun Mulder, plus the Americans Kevin Mansker and Matthew Baranoski in a team sprint that will bring down the curtain on the four-round series.

Among the other Scots on show, Lothians riders James McCallum and Findlay Young will contest the endurance events against a field that includes several Olympians.

Meanwhile, several promising youngsters will have a taste of the big night atmosphere when they compete in the Future Stars races. Teenagers Sean Noon, Matthias Barnett and Stuart Balfour of Edinburgh Road Club will all make the trip west to clash with some of the top youths from south of the border, while Peebles youngster Flora Gillies will compete in the girl’s competition.
