Currie buy into the many shades of Gray with signing

Currie will have the services of one of Scotland’s hottest prospects available to them at some point during the upcoming RBS Premiership season.

Jonny Gray, the 18-year-old brother of national team member Richie, will be linking-up with the Malleny Park club in 2012/13.

Having impressed many for Hamilton and the Scotland Under-20 team last year the second-row was rewarded with a place on the Macphail Scholarship in New Zealand over the summer.

He also signed on with the Glasgow Warriors as an Elite Development Player and when not involved with the pro club he will be available for Ally Donaldson’s top-flight side.

Following his time in New Zealand it may be the end of September before he is seen at the club though.

Currie were in Newcastle playing the Falcons Academy last night and other new faces include Fraser Watts (Hamilton), Simeon James (Cinderford), Liam Draycott (Musselburgh) and Adam Hinds (La Vila Spain).

Murray Johnstone, a stand-out for Murrayfield Wanderers last year, is dual registered with the two clubs and should learn a lot at Currie from fellow scrum-half Richard Snedden. Gregor Hunter, who is an Elite Development Player at Edinburgh, is also at the club now.
