Curling: Scots remain undefeated in Canada

SCOTLAND and Switzerland remain the only two undefeated teams at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Canada.

With only one session of play in Group C yesterday, Scotland’s duo of Bruce Mouat and Gina Aitken remain undefeated at the top the standings after five games in four days of play at the Grant Harvey Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick, thanks to a comprehensive 8-3 win over Estonia. Sweden kept up the pressure by inflicting Norway’s first defeat, clinching a 9-6 victory in the extra end.

In Group B Austria scored a a 7-2 victory against Australia but Czech Republic kept up the pressure on Austria as they earned themselves a hard-fought win against Denmark.

With two days of round-robin play left, Switzerland continued their 100 per cent record in Group A with a 13-1 morning victory over Italy.

In the evening, the Swiss made a dramatic comeback to beat China. After three ends, China were leading by 5-1 but Switzerland scored three in the fourth end and continued their fightback with three in the seventh before stealing two in the eighth to win 10-7.
